Senior Girls Volleyball Zone Tournament Information

A/AA/AAA/AAAA Senior Girls Volleyball Zones 

1. All teams welcome from the NCDSAA 

2. Berths to Provincials :

  A = 1 berth (Often more depending on the year)

 AA = 1 berth 

 AAA = 1 berth (may get a 2nd Wildcard Berth based on strength)  

 AAAA = 1 berth 

3. Ranking determined by : (order of importance may vary)

4. Tournament format - 

Depends on the number of teams 

- A = Pool play and playoff  

- AA = one match best of 5 (2 teams) 

- AAA = Pool play and playoff 

- AAAA = Pool play and playoff 

  For all levels tournaments are typically pool play followed by a play off. This may very from year to year depending on number of teams competing.

For 8 teams:  

Round Robin 

Pool A has #1,#4,#5,#8 seeds 

Pool B has #2,#3,#6,#7 seeds 

Best of 3 (no cap)

Play-offs: 

Game 1 = 4th Pool A vs 4th Pool B (7th & 8th place) 

Game 2 = 2nd Pool A vs 3rd Pool B 

Game 3 = 2nd Pool B vs 3rd Pool A 

Game 4 = 1st Pool A vs Winner Game 3 

Game 5 = 1st Pool B vs Winner Game 2 

Game 6 = Loser Game 2 vs Loser Game 3 (5th & 6th place) 

Game 7 = Loser Game 4 vs Loser Game 5 (3rd & 4th place) 

Game 8 = Winner Game 4 vs Winner Game 5 (1st & 2nd place) 

For less than 8 teams: For less than 8 teams (ie. 7,6,5 teams), eliminate the appropriate games above 

 For 4 teams = complete round robin with best of 5 playoffs 1st vs 2nd (gold) and 3rd vs 4th (bronze) 

For Less than 3 teams: Best of 5 three game series?

5. Awards: NCDSAA Medals for 1st,2nd,3rd Place teams 

 Annual 1st place Trophy 

 Keeper for 1st,2nd,3rd Place teams 

 Keeper for Most Valuable Player 

 Keeper for Most Sportsmanlike Team 

All-star awards dependent on number of teams participating

8 team tournament = 6 first team and 6 second team

4 -7 team tournament = 6 first team

2 - 3 team tournament = 6 first team

 6 First Team All-stars (keeper) 

 6 Second Team All-stars (keeper)

7. Coaches’ meeting to determine host and date for following year (if no meeting than determined at Spring AGM)
